The Biomedical Technology Department has three core values that play a pivotal role in its quest to advance our community. These values revolve around three foremost principles, to provide esteemed specialists who can enrich various work environments in the biomedical technology field. To provide qualitative scientific research impelled by local challenges in medical technology. Last but not least, to attend to our community’s needs with exceptional human capabilities and expertise to fulfill our national aims. In line with these bedrocks, our decision-making will encompass all development opportunities or strategic partnerships with different sectors. Our facultymembers are committed to educating and leading the next generation of scientists, leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs to engage them in obtaining the ultimate aim of our field, which is to employ technology and engineering concepts to serve as a catalyst for human health care enhancement. We are also bound to sustain our graduates’ peerless level of prominence in the scientific and practical fields, as they pursue to become the leaders, founders, and operators of multiple government and private sectors in the area of medical technology. We also endeavor to effectively contribute to Saudi Arabia's vision 2030, particularly in localizing the medical industries by developing innovative engineers and by offering our department's different expertise to relevant entities. Breif

Over recent years the health care systems have witnessed an increase in the utilization of sophisticated equipment, both in diagnosis and therapy of diseases. Many disorders of body functions can be detected by direct or indirect testing of the body and the application of such complex technology needs the skills of highly-qualified personnel in the following areas:

  •     Biological Sciences
  •     Application of Computer Techniques in the medical fields.
  •     Mechanical and Electrical skills
  •     Biomedical Electronics
  •     Other Allied Areas.

The Biomedical Instrumentation Program includes general engineering principles, biomedical electronics and applications to operate, repair and maintain different biomedical equipment. The different courses offered in the department include the practical applications and the clinical practice in hospitals that further increases the qualifications of graduates as a result of the daily interaction with the hospital personnel on a professional basis.

The graduate of the program can work in the following fields:

  •     Modifying and designing biomedical equipment according to the needs of the work.
  •     Instruction for the proper and safe use of equipment in the best and most efficient way.
  •     Maintaining, calibrating and operating the different biomedical equipment.
