RT Clinics

The specialized Respiratory Therapy clinics within the College of Applied Medical Sciences represent a core educational and training pillar that supports the preparation of students with advanced clinical competencies in a safe and realistic healthcare environment. These clinics serve as a vital bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities under the supervision of qualified specialists and in accordance with the highest professional standards. In alignment with the college’s vision of advancing educational quality and community service, the clinics are equipped to enhance clinical skills, strengthen evidence-based decision making, and support the delivery of specialized healthcare services to the community. Continuous updates and modernization ensure that these clinics remain aligned with the latest scientific and technological developments, fostering an integrated training environment that promotes academic excellence and prepares competent healthcare professionals capable of meeting the evolving demands of modern practice.

 Pulmonary Function Clinic

The Pulmonary Function Clinic is a specialized diagnostic unit dedicated to the comprehensive assessment of respiratory system performance through standardized and evidence-based testing procedures. It plays a central role in the evaluation, diagnosis, and monitoring of patients with suspected or established respiratory disorders by providing objective measurements of lung volumes, airflow, gas exchange efficiency, and respiratory muscle strength. The clinic supports the early detection and classification of obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and interstitial lung diseases. It is also essential in evaluating unexplained dyspnea, monitoring disease progression, assessing response to pharmacologic or rehabilitative interventions, and determining preoperative pulmonary fitness. The results generated by the clinic contribute directly to clinical decision-making and individualized patient management plans.

Core services include spirometry to assess airflow limitation patterns, measurement of static lung volumes to determine total lung capacity and residual volume, diffusion capacity testing (DLCO) to evaluate alveolar-capillary gas exchange, and respiratory muscle strength testing. Functional capacity assessments, such as the six-minute walk test, may also be conducted when clinically indicated. All procedures are performed in accordance with internationally recognized professional standards, with the adherence to equipment calibration protocols, quality assurance measures, and infection control guidelines.

The clinic is operated by qualified respiratory therapists, ensuring technical accuracy and appropriate clinical interpretation of results. Emphasis is placed on patient education and cooperation during testing to ensure reliable and reproducible outcomes.

Through its structured and quality-driven approach, the Pulmonary Function Clinic serves as a cornerstone of specialized respiratory care, enhancing diagnostic precision, supporting evidence-based practice, and ultimately improving patient outcomes.

 Sleep Disorders Clinic

Sleep medicine has gained significant importance and recognition over the past two decades and is directly related to the field of respiratory care, as sleep-related breathing disorders are among the most common sleep disorders. The Sleep Disorders Clinic is currently being equipped with the latest technologies to conduct various sleep studies in an environment that simulates real bedroom settings.

The clinic is dedicated to the evaluation, support in diagnosis, and treatment of various sleep disorders, following scientific methodologies and internationally accredited protocols. It represents a key component of the respiratory and neurological care system, given the direct impact of sleep on physical and mental health, including cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic health, and daily functional performance.

Services provided include comprehensive polysomnography studies conducted in an environment simulating real bedroom conditions, as well as home sleep testing when required. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) titration studies (CPAP/BiPAP) are also performed to determine optimal therapeutic settings for patients with sleep-related breathing disorders and to assist in developing individualized treatment plans. These interventions contribute to improving patients’ quality of life, reducing complications associated with sleep disorders, and enhancing short- and long-term health outcomes. The clinic will also provide students with the necessary clinical skills to assist in diagnosing various sleep disorders and managing sleep-related breathing disorders, qualifying them to work in sleep medicine centers.
