About the Program

The Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MSc PT) program is designed for licensed physical therapists who wish to advance their clinical expertise, research capabilities, and leadership skills. The program aims to prepare graduates to become specialized practitioners, researchers, and educators who contribute to the development of evidence-based practice and the advancement of rehabilitation services at the local, regional, and international levels.

Mission

Contributing to the development and enhancement of knowledge in the fields of physical therapy by providing an educational and research-oriented environment that encourages research, innovation, and lifelong learning, serving the healthcare and research needs of the community.

Program Goals

The MSc PT program is closely aligned with the mission of the Department of Rehabilitation Health Sciences, which in turn supports the missions of the College of Applied Medical Sciences and King Saud University (KSU). The program contributes significantly to achieving the university’s strategic goals by preparing graduates who are competitive in the workplace and capable of addressing the needs of local and regional communities.

Many graduates of the program pursue PhD studies locally or internationally at highly ranked universities, further strengthening the academic and professional standing of the institution.

Specifically, the program aims to:

  1. Graduate competent specialists in physical therapy and related subspecialties who contribute effectively to treatment and rehabilitation care and help enhance the quality of services across the Kingdom.
  2. Advance research and scientific productivity to support the development of a knowledge-based economy and promote evidence-based clinical practice.
  3. Foster health and wellness through professional training, leadership, and participation in community-based physical therapy initiatives.
  4. Encourage creativity, innovation, and ethical responsibility, while promoting individual growth, self-development, and professional integrity.
  5. Enhance collaboration and build sustainable partnerships with health institutions, research centers, and academic organizations at both national and international levels.
  6. Support leadership and competitiveness in the field of physical therapy, in alignment with the regional and global aspirations of the College and University.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

Knowledge and Understanding

K1. Appraise advanced and in-depth knowledge of physical therapy theories, principles, and concepts related to practice and research.
K2. Integrate advanced knowledge and understanding of recent physical therapy methods in evaluation and treatment.
K3. Evaluate research requirements and inquiry methodologies in different fields of physical therapy.

Skills

S1. Apply advanced principles related to evaluation and management across various physical therapy specialties.
S2. Design and conduct research and clinical experiments that contribute to improving individual and community health.
S3. Utilize digital software and analytical tools to process data and information both quantitatively and qualitatively.
S4. Exercise critical judgment in applying clinical data and research findings to address current challenges in physical therapy practice.
S5. Communicate effectively to disseminate advanced knowledge, practical skills, innovations, and research findings across different physical therapy domains.
