Program Vision:

Academic, research, and community leadership in the field of occupational therapy locally and globally

Program Mission:

To Foster the occupational therapy and rehabilitation services locally and globally through preparing qualified occupational therapists who can serve community and assist in high-quality research that works to develop and advance the profession. 

Program Goals:

To Provide an outstanding occupational therapy program featuring locally and globally recognized expertise grounded in high-quality evidence-based practices.

To prepare highly competent occupational therapists who can work independently or within a team and have the ability to participate in scholarly and research activities to advance the occupational therapy practice.

To contribute effectively in community services and development that meet the needs of our patients, profession, and community.

To Establish productive collaboration with distinctive educational institutions and research hubs, both at the locally and globally levels, to enhance the field of occupational therapy.

Specialist: They will have deep knowledge of concepts, terminology, and theories of occupational therapy and rehabilitation field. 

Effective communicatorThey will be able to communicate effectively in both Arabic and English in the academic field and work environment. 

Leader: Work effectively in a team environment, providing leadership, team building, exerting positive influence, and demonstrating project management skills. 

Honest: They will demonstrate a knowledge of ethical, social, cultural, and environmental issues relating to their disciplines. 

Ambitious: They are lifelong learners. They are open, curious, and willing to investigate and consider new knowledge and ways of thinking. They will have ongoing professional development and personal growth and enhancement. 

Researcher: They will be able to conduct original and distinguished scientific research in the occupational therapy field in accordance with the directions of the Kingdom and publish in approved publications. 

Critical Thinker (Critic): They are distinguished by the ability to apply theories, analyze data related to specialization, interpret and criticize them scientifically, and employ them in finding solutions to problems and challenges facing developments in various development fields.

Knowledge and Understanding:

Recognize theoretical background of occupational therapy services from the biological, physical, behavioral, psychological, and clinical sciences perspectives throughout the lifespan including frames of reference and practice models, practice domain and process, and modalities and techniques.

Analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and diagnose problems related to occupational performance and community participation including the influence of social, cultural, contextual, and technical aspects on the practice of occupational therapy and design an intervention plan to support engagement in occupations.

Select, analyze, critique, interpret, and utilize research protocols and articles for active engagement in evidence-based practice, education, and research. 


Skills:

Integrate concepts from the biological, physical, behavioral, psychological, and clinical sciences into occupational therapy services.

Demonstrate the best evidence for occupational therapy practice and clinical reasoning to compose the best care.

Employ critical thinking, problem-solving, occupational domain and process, and evidence-based practice to make clinical decisions connected to the fundamental elements of occupational therapy practice.

Demonstrate leadership, interpersonal and practice skills including effective communication in a culturally competent manner with clients, family members, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members.
