Bachelor of Clinical Nutrition Program
Human health is highly dependent on proper nutrition. Therefore, the Clinical Nutrition Program within the Department of Community Health Sciences is designed with a comprehensive academic framework that examines the relationship between essential nutrients, factors influencing food consumption, and overall health status. The program aims to assess the community’s nutritional needs in both health and disease conditions, contributing to public health promotion and reducing the prevalence of nutrition-related diseases.
The Clinical Nutrition Program focuses on preparing students to efficiently perform their professional duties in clinical nutrition with a structured and evidence-based approach. This enables them to provide comprehensive nutritional care, treat diet-related diseases, and address various nutritional challenges encountered in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The program also educates students on planning and implementing therapeutic nutrition and dietary plans, assessing the nutritional content of different foods, and developing nutrition education strategies tailored to the community’s needs.
In line with curriculum development efforts to keep pace with scientific advancements and academic accreditation requirements, the program’s study plan was updated in 1427 AH (2006 AD) following an extensive review of similar academic programs at international universities. Additionally, the program is currently in the process of obtaining the univesty aproval for its new study plan, which has been developed to enhance practical and research aspects, meet national and international accreditation standards, and ensure that learning outcomes align with job market requirements and modern healthcare demands.
The program aims to graduate specialized professionals capable of effectively contributing to community health improvement by applying the latest scientific concepts in clinical nutrition and integrating with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive medical care.
