Committee Tasks

  1. Graduate Studies Committee:

    • Review and enhance graduate program plans in the department.

    • Conduct entrance exams for graduate applicants and recommend admissions to the department council.

    • Develop comprehensive examination mechanisms for graduate students.

    • Provide academic advising to graduate students.

    • Update graduate admission criteria as required by the department.

    • Evaluate student requests for additional opportunities, reinstatement, etc., and submit recommendations to the department council.

    • Review and propose master's and doctoral research proposals for departmental approval.

    • Develop mechanisms for approving doctoral research proposals and submit recommendations to the department council.

    • Propose the number of students for future admissions.

    • Recommend research plans for graduate students and present them to the department council.

    • Suggest available tracks for annual doctoral admissions.

    • Assign teaching responsibilities across faculty members.

    • Recommend the appointment or change of academic supervisors (internal or external).

    • Prepare and periodically update guides and templates for graduate students and faculty members.

    • Organize workshops and training sessions for graduate programs.

    • Communicate with funding entities within and outside the university.

    • Address inquiries regarding graduate programs.

    • Plan and propose new graduate programs and tracks in line with modern developments and labor market needs.

  2. Scientific Research Committee:

    • Prepare and oversee the department’s annual research plan.

    • Encourage faculty members and researchers to conduct innovative research and present findings in local, regional, and international conferences.

    • Promote collaborative research among departments, colleges, and external entities.

    • Facilitate research funding opportunities and collaboration for faculty members.

    • Establish specialized research groups within the department.

    • Create a database for researchers and research activities in the department.

    • Host workshops on scientific research, publishing, and documentation methods.

    • Explore the possibility of launching a specialized journal in collaboration with scientific societies.

    • Prepare an annual report on research activities for the department council.

  3. Curriculum Committee:

    • Benchmark similar academic programs from other universities to guide the department’s program development.

    • Review and update the program’s vision, mission, and objectives in alignment with current trends.

    • Define academic program courses and assign descriptions to committee members.

    • Ensure alignment of course descriptions, objectives, and learning outcomes with program outcomes.

    • Distribute courses (university, college, major requirements, capstone projects, internships, electives) across levels.

    • Submit program proposals to the department council for review and feedback.

    • Address suggestions from the college curriculum committee, ensuring alignment with national qualification frameworks.

    • Recommend evaluators or organizations for program accreditation.

    • Address feedback from external evaluators and provide justifications for decisions.

  4. Development and Quality Committee:

    • Promote quality assurance within the department.

    • Implement and monitor accreditation activities.

    • Propose learning objectives, methods, and evaluation strategies.

    • Supervise course file preparation and updates.

    • Host accreditation teams and prepare self-study reports.

    • Collaborate with the college quality unit on workshops, lectures, and quality week events.

    • Document accreditation procedures and progress.

    • Monitor performance levels and stakeholder satisfaction.

  5. Statistics and IT Committee:

    • Analyze surveys and calculate key performance indicators for accreditation.

    • Maintain data on academic program activities and faculty achievements.

    • Compile data on department activities such as conferences, workshops, and community service initiatives.

    • Track awards and patents within the department.

  6. Academic Advising Committee:

    • Plan and update student advising programs annually.

    • Support students with course registration and skill development.

    • Address student grievances and provide academic and psychological support.

  7. Clinical Training and Internships Committee:

    • Assign internship placements and liaise with training sites.

    • Monitor internship progress and maintain a graduate database.

  8. Appointments Committee:

    • Assess department needs for faculty and staff appointments.

    • Review applications, conduct interviews, and submit recommendations.

    • Monitor the progress of department-sponsored students.

  9. Community  Sirvice committe

    o    Plan annual community service activities.

    o    Strengthen partnerships with community institutions.

  10.   Laboratory and Safety Committee:

    o    Ensure compliance with safety standards.

    o    Maintain lab equipment and supplies.

    o    Conduct periodic training on laboratory safety.

  11. Procurement and Inventory Committee:

    • Manage procurement of  lab materials and departmental needs.

    • Maintain an inventory of department resources.

  12. Strategic Planning and Monitoring Committee 

  •  Develop and oversee the department’s strategic plan.

  • Measure performance indicators and prepare annual progress reports.

13.Timetables and Examinations Committee: 

  •  Develop timetables for undergraduate and graduate programs.

  •   Assign teaching loads and allocate classrooms efficiently.

  • Schedule and monitor final examinations.
